BOP and OPM Collaborate on "Second Chance" Training

Training on obtaining Federal employment to be offered to inmates

BOP and OPM Collaborate on

(BOP) - The Bureau of Prisons (Bureau), in collaboration with the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), is offering training sessions on obtaining Federal employment to inmates in Residential Reentry Centers nationwide. The following three "Second Chance" sessions on Federal employment opportunities will be provided to interested individuals online:

  • November 14, 2019 - Navigating USAJOBS (Finding and Applying for Federal Jobs)
  • November 21, 2019 - Writing your Federal Resume
  • November 26, 2019 - Interviewing for Federal Jobs

These sessions are being provided by OPM through an agreement with the Bureau for Federal inmates only. Depending on the success of these offerings, additional sessions may be set up in 2020. This collaboration between OPM and the Bureau is an example of the type of partnerships included in the First Step Act of 2018 to expand access to reentry programs to reduce recidivism. The Bureau encourages and welcomes similar collaborations to further increase the reentry opportunities available to inmates in our custody and care.
