CAPT Michael Crockett Receives Award

(BOP) - CAPT Michael Crockett, Chief, Pharmacy Logistics, Health Services Division, served as the BOP-Federal Government COVID Operations Response (formerly known as Operation Warp Speed) Liaison Officer, from September 28, 2020 to March 12, 2021. In this role, CAPT Crockett interacted with representatives from the Department of Defense, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other federal entities and successfully advocated for the prioritization of BOP staff for vaccinations. Along with a dedicated team of BOP professionals, CAPT Crockett developed and promoted the BOP Vaccination Plan and Training Guidance.

Using the plan, CAPT Crockett led the distribution of vaccines to all institutions, overcoming logistical challenges in shipping, unique storage considerations and delivery schedules based on limited allocations. The BOP has consistently been recognized for the efficiency of the vaccination plan that produced the highest percentage of allocated doses administered among all of the 64 jurisdictions and 5 Federal Partners. The BOP's vaccination model has since been replicated by correctional systems nationwide. In recognition of his great efforts, CAPT Michael Crockett was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. This award recognizes an individual, who while serving in a joint, multi-service activity, distinguishes him or herself by non-combat outstanding achievement or meritorious service. CAPT Crockett's achievements, and efforts on behalf of the Bureau of Prisons, were accomplished with distinction. His work reflects positively on the Health Services Division, the Bureau of Prisons, and the United States Public Health Service and further supports that CAPT Crockett is deserving of this special recognition.
